Why wont my vinyl stick to glass.

You just finished creating a cute decal that you want to put on a mirror but when you go to remove the transfer tape the decal does not stick to the mirror. I had followed several tutorials online about using the transfer tape and then peeling the vinyl backing off and then placing the vinyl via the transfer tape onto the glass and smoothing it on but when i lift the transfer tape the vinyl just stays on the tape.
